This is OUR story....

On Monday November 7, I went to what would be my last ob appointment. At that appointment, I asked about induction. Why? Because I was miserable. Baby M's head was pushing so hard on my pelvis that I couldn't walk. Baby was pushing on my whole tummy so I couldn't lay or sit. I couldn't move. I WAS MISERABLE. My PA went and checked the schedule, and said I could be induced on Tuesday morning if I wanted. YES I DID! :)...
So Tuesday November 8, at 7:00 am, I checked into Mercy Hospital. We filled out paperwork and got situated in our room. Then Dr Ferrer came in and checked me. He said that I wasn't thin enough to start the induction process so he suggested cervidel (sp?). This was inserted at 8:40am. I was told that I could not move for 2 hours and that this had to be left in for 12 hours. After it was removed, I waited an hour and then we would start pitcoin. I waited my 2 hours and then got up to pee and such. I pretty much stayed in bed while having some contractions. At about 4pm, I asked for some tylenol as the contractions were getting uncomfortable. At about 4:15....MY WATER BROKE ON IT'S OWN!! YAY!!! So the nurse came in and pulled the cervidel out. From there I started having some pretty intense (HA.) contractions, so I asked for more pain meds. We waited about an hour before starting pitcoin. At close to 6ish we started pitocin and at that point, back labor kicked in. I used my coaches (my husband and my mom) for breathing techniques. They brought in stronger pain meds. At one point, I started throwing up just as family walked in. That is when I decided I wanted an epidural. I couldn't take the pain. I was in and out of consciousness because the back labor was soo bad. I couldn't think straight. They then put in the epidural around 8pm(?). It was very spotty. I was still hard core feeling contractions on my left side. So they brought in another stronger dose of the epidural. By midnight I was just about completed dilated. By 1230, it was time to start pushing. The nurse called the dr and said, you can start making your way up cuz she's gonna start pushing. About the time I really start pushing, I got sick YET AGAIN! My mom and husband pulled me to a sitting position...and guess what? Projectile vomiting, at the nurse, all the way across the room!. They kept having me roll from left side to center to right side to center to try to work baby out. My contractions were coming two back to back with a min or so in between sets. I would push 3 times the first contraction and then breathe through the second. I was miserable. About the time I thought I couldn't do it anymore, the nurse grabbed my hand and said "Don't give up, this is what you're doing". I reached down and could feel my baby's head. The hair, the goop, the slime. MY BABY. At that point, the baby became my focal point. I would talk to him or her and say, Mommy can't do this by herself, you gotta help me out. At about this time, the nurse tried calling the doctor again because she had me ready and perfect for him to come in. All it would have taken is a couple more pushes...but then....I started feeling sick. my mom turned me to my right side....and I started throwing up...the nurse started yelling at me to stop pushing....but all of a sudden...I felt the pressure of the head...and the body slip right out...and the nurse yelling for my husband to get help and asking my mom to help her. My husband took off and at that point the nurse and my mom had unwrapped the umbilical cord from my baby's shoulders and put her on my chest....all I could do was cry and scream..."my baby..my baby...my baby..."...but then wait..."wait! is it a boy or girl!???!!"...my mom moved my hands, and said jess it's a girl..it's a baby girl..."...by that time my husband was back and I was crying "baby, it's a girl..it's our Madalyn Rae..!! my baby girl!". The doctor came in and asked "do we have a baby?" They all said yes and started laughing....He began to stitch me up and that took about an hour because I had basically filleted myself. The nurse asked him how many stitches...his reply? "I don't know, I stopped counting".  ....After he was done, he hugged bill and I and told us we are an amazing couple and we will be amazing parents. He shook hands with my family and that's where this story ends. This is my first baby story.
It was hard. It hurt. But in the end..it was all worth it. every painful minute. She was worth it. I would go through it all again...twice just to have the experience. I love my daughter and this is her story :) <3

The GREAT EPIDURAL debate?

18 days. 18 more DAYS tops. HOLY COW. It's getting so close! So of course everything BABY is on my mind! :) First I thought I would share a couple pictures I found :)

Tis the season right ;)

Now onto more of what's on my mind lately...
The first thing since we got pregnant is the what's the sex question.
Oh I got sick of that from the beginning.
Since we CHOSE not to find out, we get crap all the time. How do you plan? How do you know what to paint the room? How do you buy clothes? uh gender neutral? duh. Our choice. Our life.

AND Of course as you get closer to delivery there are a crap ton of things people say, do, and ask. The first and the question I HATE..."how are you feeling"?
HA. HAHA. I'm 9 months prego, can't stand without help, can't sit without pillows everywhere, can't sleep on any side except my back (which I can't breathe when I do), can't walk a straight line if I tried, pee literally every 15 mins, am having contractions all the time BUT not at regular intervals, and have back pain so severe I feel like it'll never heal. I'm great, how are you?

I have LOVED every minute of being pregnant. It is a beautiful thing. It is a beautiful feeling. Till now. It hurts. And I know " It's only gonna get worse". Which brings me to my next point.
I say "I can't sleep" They say "you think it's bad now, just wait till you have a crying infant".

AUGH! At least when I have a crying infant, I can walk and guess what? when that crying infant is sleeping, you can bet your butt I will be too! (and I can guarantee you, I will sleep better than I am now).

The next one? Induction.
Sigh. No, I will not CHOOSE to be induced, if baby isn't ready, he or she isn't ready. Simple. as. that. BUT if I HAD to make a choice between being induced or having a c-section...hmm 2 thoughts here considering I will be having gallbladder surgery as well.
1. choose induction cuz its less evasive than surgery.
2. choose csection and have gallbladder out at the same time.
If I choose to be induced, yes, baby could come within hours and be aok, OR it could take too long and still have to get a csection...
If I choose csection, there are more risks, and I REALLY don't want one BUT I could be done with both at the same time.

And finally the great epidural debate...
there are MANY opinions out there.
Don't do it, cuz it causes longer labor
Do it cuz you don't feel anything but pressure
Don't do it cuz of blah blah blah
Do it cuz of blah blah blah

I DO NOT PLAN on having one. Provided everything goes well, I will sign the consent ***JUST IN CASE*** but I want to try and not get one. Why?
Because it's my personal choice. Do I have to have a reason? Is the reason I want to see if I can do it good enough? No? Ok, well I have to have surgery where I'm put under 12 hours later. So I want to make sure I am good and ready for that. Not good enough? I don't care. I didn't condemn you for your choice, therefore, don't condemn me for mine.
I have talked to numerous people about this.
Usually new moms of one child say EPIDURAL.
Experienced moms who have done both say NO EPIDURAL.
And mom's that have done one or the other will USUALLY say what they had, except for the rare cases with complications.
Who am I gonna take advice from? Obviously the people that have had both. And you really want to know what they say? Don't. Especially for the first. Wait, why???
Because. One. You don't know what you're doing and how do you know the pain is "unbearable" till you've tried. Two. What happens if it goes faster than you think it will? Three. The emotions involved. YES everyone has the rush of emotions, but everyone that has done both says, the adrenaline from pain pumping through your body makes the end soo much better.
I realize everyone has their opinion. Great :) BUT just cuz I have mine, doesn't make me different than you having yours.

The shape of a mother?

Here's the real deal. I'm sure if you are reading this, you have probably read most of my blogs to date. And if not, you'll get the drift as I go along. One year ago I was planning a wedding. Around this time, we were preparing for a bachelorette party and a wedding shower. Losing weight was honestly the LAST thing on my mind. I didn't want to focus on that, work, school, and wedding planning all at the same time. I had enough stress..I didn't want to add to it. Before I walked down the aisle, I actually lost about 5 pounds on my own without trying. I guess it was nerves or whatever, but my dress fit perfect, I felt I looked perfect, and honestly that's all I cared about. We went on our "honeymoon" to the Mall of America about a week later and I ate what I wanted. The wedding was over, I was recently married, and you know what? I WAS HAPPY. period. We went through till Christmas time, doing what we wanted. At Christmas, I took a hard look at myself. I had gained about 20 pounds in a month. I felt horrible. I didn't like how I looked. I was also having a lot of pain in my abdomen. So I started a weight loss journey. By the middle of February, I was starting to feel better about myself. I had lost the 20 pounds and was actually about 3 pounds under my wedding day weight. I was doing Zumba 3-5 times a week and eating HEALTHY! BUT I also found out I had gallbladder issues and started seeing a doctor regularly. It was decided I was going to get a hidascan and get it taken out..no big deal..I could go on with life and keep losing weight..I only had about 30 pounds more to go, I could do it! BUT BAM! God had other plans. We found out I was pregnant March 6. holy crap. what now? Can't have a hida scan..I tried to keep doing zumba, but couldn't. So I gave in to my pregnancy and let my body do what it needed to. GAIN WEIGHT. I have been posting pictures on here to show my progress..and that was ok. But I looked at myself..and didn't see beautiful. I didn't see what my husband thought was perfect. I saw stretch marks, saggy boobs, dimply thighs. I didn't see what people said was an adorable pregnancy body, a cute baby bump. I FELT HUGE. Simple as that. I am currently 36 weeks and 2 days and I feel like a whale. I can't walk, I waddle. We had my baby shower last month and while my family and friends are FANTASTIC and we got EVERYTHING literally eveything we needed and more, I looked at pics and almost cried. I was huge..I was massive and people told me all the time I looked like I was ready to pop. UGH. not what you want to hear. My WONDERFUL husband told me not to worry, we would go back to the gym and do zumba and lose the baby weight once he or she arrives. I know I will but my body won't be the same. BUT I have learned a few things since being pregnant. It's not about the weight. It's about me. My attitude. My body. My husband loves me and he will love me now, if I don't lose the weight, if I do lose the weight. My parents talk about the stretch marks my mom got and how they are the symbols of their love together. They loved each other so much, they created us and it shows on my moms body. I took that to heart..but I still didn't see beautiful. We finally got around to doing maternity pics last weekend. We had so much fun and afterwards, since my dad took them, we got sneak peeks :) AND I LOVE THEM. ALL OF THEM. they are beautiful. they show a beautiful thing. I am beautiful. I then found this website that goes right along with the mixed feelings I have been having about my body. It's called The Shape of a Mother. It shows the real parts of pregnancy. Not the airbrushed qualities in magazines. It shows the stretch marks, saggy boobs, dimply thighs. It shows me. It shows women. It shows what my parents always say, that yes, you get big and round, yes you get stretch marks, but they are the battle wounds from your love and bringing the most beautiful thing into this world. Before I got pregnant I wanted NOTHING more than to be skinny and to be beautiful, and now my whole theory has changed, if I can be where I was at and nothing more, I will be happy. Why? Because with the loose skin, stretch marks, and dimply thighs, I will be a mother, I will be beautiful. And there is no better sacrifice.
